Martin Ikin Releases Highly Anticipated Single ‘Hooked’ on Catch & Release and etcetc Music

Today etcetc is thrilled to announce the release of Martin Ikin’s highly anticipated single ‘Hooked’ in partnership with FISHER’s own record label Catch & Release.

Up until this point, Catch & Release has been kept in FISHER’s back pocket as a space for him to cast out his own original productions. Since the full-of-life Aussie got his label off the ground, Catch & Release and etcetc together have already reeled in two prize releases, including the recent “You Little Beauty” and the Grammy-nominated track that every DJ had queued up, “Losing It.”

Now, FISHER is opening up his home base to a seasoned stalwart from the UK who has been paying his dues in the house scene since 1991, having operated under a slew of aliases including DJ Mayhem, Soul Purpose, Indigo, Migrant and many more. Needless to say, quality has been the common denominator tying together every project he’s touched, leading up to his current guise that has seen him navigate through a staggering list of imprints such as Repopulate Mars, Lost, Toolroom, Get Physical, Defected, Elrow and the list goes on.

Having already received a World Exclusive spin with Danny Howard on Radio 1, ‘Hooked’ lures heads in with an instantly recognisable sample from ‘80s synth-pop band Yazoo. The shimmery synth line is elevated to the max by Ikin’s shuffling drums, roving basslines, chopped-up chants and a decidedly soulful vocal - “I have always been a big fan of the original synth line from Yazoo, so had it my mind to try it on a tech house record. Once I did, I knew I had something special, and a fortunate twist of fate: that sat night I was playing before FISHER at Tank in Sheffield. I played “Hooked” as my last track and he pretty much signed it on the spot!” explains Ikin.

Having been championed strictly by Fisher for the last twelve months, his then untitled track has blown up stages from Field Day, Tomorrowland, Ushuaia and Coachella – “The footage of Fisher dropping it at the biggest festivals around the world and watching it go off has been the ultimate buzz! I am so excited to be part of Fisher’s label and honoured to be the first external artist to release on Catch & Release,” expresses Ikin.
