Luboku Shares Reflective & Emotionally Charged New Single 'Two Hands'
4 Jun 2020
Today, Melbourne-based electronic artist and producer LUBOKU shares his latest single ‘Two Hands’, following up to his recently released and space-infused EP “Pale Blue Dot / Lift Off” and the next in line from a forthcoming body of new work.
‘Two Hands’ expands upon the sonic motifs and themes contained within Luboku’s “Pale Blue Dot / Lift Off” EP, wrapping bold and brilliant synth leads with muffled space talk and dark skittering basslines.
Describing its meaning Luboku says, “Two Hands follows the journey of an astronaut travelling into space for the first time – juxtaposing what that sense of euphoria perhaps feels like with a sense of inescapable loss. To me it’s about that feeling we all have, searching for something greater, at the peril of what we might already have”.
‘Two Hands’ features original audio material from the Apollo 11 mission, humankind’s first exploration outside of Earth. These recordings serve to highlight this story that Luboku describes behind the lyrics, highlighting what is arguably humankind’s most exceptional scientific achievement, the moon landing. Luboku’s idea was that through this he could juxtapose the mammoth feat of scientific ingenuity of space exploration with a contrast on issues such as the climate crisis. Showing how a disconnect has emerged from our past priorities and our present willingness as people from all over the world, to find creative solutions for the betterment of humanity.
Over the past two years Luboku has been working to carve out his niche within the Australian electronic/dance community. His string of singles throughout 2018/19, which included ‘The Surface’, ‘Without You’, ’50 Days’, ‘Solar Flare’ and ‘Forget’, created a foundation for him to embark upon releasing a more ambitious and conceptual project. Luboku has also worked hard to establish a name to live music lovers across both Australia and New Zealand, delivering energetic performances while touring with Petit Biscuit, BAYNK, Leisure and Kilter. He’s also showcased at Australia’s premier industry events including Bigsound, CHANGES and Electronic Music Conference (EMC), plus embarked on a national headline tour.
