After an intensive two years of writing, recording and touring the world, one of Australia's most listened to producers today unveils his debut album. Following the global acclaim of singles “They Don’t Know Us”, “Count On Me” and recent cut "I Hear You", Kilter's highly anticipated full length record, Through The Distortion is out today via etcetc.
 
A body of work that mirrors countless hours spent in the studio, Through The Distortion features seven unheard tracks and the Sydney artist's most recent singles. Tropical in flavour with Kilter's distinctive grit, the record is one of patience and boundary-breaking versatility. Owing to his talents as a drummer, Kilter cleverly tackles elements of dancehall, garage, breakbeat, hip-hop, bigbeat, RnB, electro and chill throughout with his telltale production finesse. 

Kilter proudly hosts an all-Australian cast of collaborations throughout, with the exception of South African rap sensation Espacio Dios on “Treasure” (as premiered on Billboard), who makes OkayAfrica's "Top 25 South African rappers under 25 killing the game”. Opening track “Ritmo” is a tranquil preparation of delicate layers, that prepares for a leap into the timeless “Count On Me” ft. LANKS. Sweeping synths open Yaw Faso's bouncing verses on "Shut It Down", while "Shatter" shifts the mood to a late night dance floor. Contemplative tones soothe on the Woodesfeatured “Waste Time” and darker slow turning “Badai”, before the high whistled call out of "I Hear You".
 
Kilter: “The best way to make something new is to break something old - or at least that’s what I have found with my music. The idea of pushing sounds until they become something different and exciting is at the centre of the creative process behind this album. Sonically, it’s quite literally distorted in a lot of places while all the music pushes through the noise.”

Australian graphic designer and animator David Porte assisted Kilter in realising visual themes of distortion for the album's artwork.

One of Australia’s Top 20 Most Streamed Electronic artists, Kilter has quickly made the leap from burgeoning multi-instrumentalist to household name. Having recently arrived home from his first ever headlining US tour and smashing the UK/European festival season in 2016, meanwhile album cut “Shut It Down” has already been picked up on Germany's biggest youth radio station 1LIVE's, SiriusXM and playlisted by European specialists such as Martin Solveig, Moguai and Sander van Doorn. It's clear that Kilter's force is supported from all corners of the globe. 

 To celebrate his debut album, Kilter heads out on a national headline tour joined by Brisbane beatmaker Feki and Melbourne synth-pop duo Alta. Presented by triple j and NANA JUDY, the tour runs throughout June and July, hitting all major cities and coinciding with his Splendour In The Grass 2017performance. 

Through The Distortion is a highly defined debut and execution of work for the talented producer, who is ready at once to introduce his full length record to the world over.
