Having offered the world the first taste of her original material with breakthrough single ‘I’ve Been Watching You’ in January of this year, Houston-based singer-songwriter Ivy Rose now unveils her debut EP, Skyscrapers. A captivatingly raw body of work co-written and recorded with Lab78’s creative team of Nicholas Littlemore and Peter Mayes (Empire of the Sun, PNAU), the EP includes previous releases ‘I’ve Been Watching You’, ‘Brave’ and ‘Home’, plus two stunning new singles, ‘My Only’ and the EP’s title track, ‘Skyscrapers’.

The Skyscrapers EP explores the theme of a haunting love story and came together while Ivy Rose was working with Littlemore and Mayes, while still harnessing Ivy’s nostalgic ‘90s rock feel. Ivy explains, “I want people to feel inspired, and motivated. And to feel the real pain and feelings that are behind my voice.”

On the title track, Littlemore states, “A song like Skyscrapers, we had a kind of breakdown mutually in the studio. We’d been working so hard, so many late nights, and it was all getting too much. Ivy came up with a melody over a simple track and it just soared above all else we had recorded.”

The elevated songwriting on the EP’s other new track, 'My Only', is courtesy of Mark Goldenberg, a US songwriter with an abundant discography including The Pointer Sisters, Linda Ronstadt, Peter Frampton and Olivia Newton-John. As a guitarist, Goldenberg has been involved in recordings with Bette Midler, Neil  Diamond, Roy Orbison, Brian Wilson and Littlemore’s project Empire of the Sun.

Ivy Rose’s breakthrough solo single ‘I’ve Been Watching You’, was added into rotation on Australian youth station triple j and gained critical acclaim in music press with Our Culture Mag stating, “In this song, Rose’s mesmeric voice is complemented by sweeping acoustic guitar harmonies, atmospheric synths, and tender and emotive production.” Recent single ‘Home’ was released in early July with MILKY saying, “The intimate track allows Rose's vocals to soar, mesmerising listeners with her refreshing performance.”
