One of Australia’s most dynamic up and coming acts, The Goods have become vital members of Sydney’s rising soul/electronic scene in just a few short years. Consisting of founding members Badmandela and Rosario, along with the later addition of vocalist Black Tree, The Goods first burst onto the scene in 2016 with the release of their self-titled debut LP rooted in a steady stream of hip-hop, space funk, low slung house and soul.

The group would take another step forward in 2018 with the Make Your Move EP released by the Brooklyn imprint Bastard Jazz. Now, The Goods are set to unveil their latest sonic vision in the form of a new single, “Let’s Roll”, their debut release on etcetc (home to PNAU, FISHER, Doolie, CLYPSO and more) and the first taste of their upcoming album, to be released later this year.

"Let’s Roll" marks an evolution in sound for The Goods, introducing an energetic live element on top of the unique brand of futuristic club-oriented soul the band have come to be known for. The hypnotic, swinging groove is augmented by lush vocal harmony arrangements, live drums and guitar, and features the electric bass prowess of none other than long-time associate Michael Di Francesco AKA acclaimed producer and musician Touch Sensitive.

“We really wanted this next body of work to be more collaborative and to move the music in new directions.  We’ve worked with Touch Sensitive before on various projects, and myself and Black Tree have also both toured as part of his live band, so when it came to collabs, Mikey was the first call. We took the track to Mikey’s studio where he jumped on electric bass and Badmandela played Moog bass and they jammed on the track together live. The result is the bass you hear on ‘Let’s Roll.’” – The Goods

This new approach comes in step with the group’s development in the live arena. Heralded for their smashing live sets, The Goods have shared stages with the likes of Snarky Puppy, Oddisee and Onra, in addition to highlight performances at various music festivals.

"’Let’s Roll’ is an invitation to follow intuition,” The Goods share. “If mood is a choice and happiness is a state of mind then why not choose it?"
