Blending pop, R&B and electronica, 20-year-old Queensland singer-songwriter Doolie (Doolie Shadforth) delivers her debut release on etcetc with ‘2:20’, a song co-written with Melbourne producer GXNXVS (Lastlings, Banoffee, OKBADLANDS) and featuring Melbourne rapper Charlie Threads.

‘2:20’ tells the story of late night texts, rendezvous and the vulnerability of a relationship’s early stages, with Doolie’s vocal sliding over brooding beats. Music to DM to, this track is an anthem for anyone up at 2:20 in the morning with someone on your mind.

On the release, Doolie said, “2:20 is about being on the same page as somebody who you like and who likes you back. The process of this song was so amazing; it was my first time being thrown into a session with someone I had never met before, and my first time having someone really cool like Charlie Threads feature on my track!”

Joining Doolie in a moment of equal reflection is a verse from young Melbourne rapper Charlie Threads. Already on the radar of Acclaim, Happy Mag and Howl & Echoes, Threads offers an earnest perspective with his signature style and joins Doolie in the final chorus, bringing that nostalgic R&B flavour to full effect.

Charlie Threads adds “’2:20’ for me had me hooked for real. I really knew where it could go when I heard the demo. Doolie is so fire, that voice bro! Everybody relates to missing someone, I guess we equally tapped in to that. This was also an opportunity for me to showcase the fact I’m really not ‘just a rapper’, I’m multi-layered and I’m glad Doolie and her team saw that and got me on the joint, we got another one!"

Since establishing her recordings career at the age of 17, Doolie is riding high after an extraordinary 2018, featuring on releases from Paces (‘Don’t Run’) and POOLCLVB (‘Freefall’), and performing live at festivals like Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival and Big Pineapple. '2:20' is the first taste of new music from Doolie since her 2017 single 'KØLD', which saw support from triple j, triple j Unearthed and Rage.
