Luboku

// ARTIST

LUBOKU is an electronic music project based in Melbourne, Australia. Established in late 2014, the release of his debut solo single ‘The Surface’ caught the attention of media and industry alike. His solo debut was picked up on Australian tastemaker radio station, triple j and its accompanying video was added to rotation on ABC TV’s cult music video program, rage. Critics dubbed it “a wonderfully slow burning slice of left-field house music” and its success online landed it at #34 on Spotify Australia’s Viral 50 chart.

Returning in May 2018 with ’Without You’ and a support slot opening for Willaris. K, Luboku announced his signing to Niche Talent Agency for representation across Australia and New Zealand. His new release earned him the title of triple j Unearthed’s ‘Feature Artist’ and for a time, was the 46th listened to song on Shazam within Australia.

This success landed him a spot on the national WhatSoNot Australia tour, where Luboku opened for the electronic music heavyweight at Melbourne’s iconic Forum Theatre. More singles followed and on his debut solo EP, Luboku announced his signing to Sydney indie dance label, Etcetc – the home of artists such as Pnau, Fisher, Bearcubs and Digitalism – its singles scored Top 50 placements on iTunes Electronic Charts.

A national headline tour followed along with festival slots over summer and led Luboku to showcase at Australia’s premier industry events including EMC, Changes and Bigsound. Luboku has toured Australia as main support for Petit Biscuit, LEISURE, Kilter and made his New Zealand debut when he joined Kiwi producer BAYNK on his Australia/New Zealand tour in mid-2019.

More than 1.5M streams and countless radio spins later, Luboku’s next body of work is finally set for release this October via Etcetc records. His introductory EP and single, “Pale Blue Dot / Lift Off” was released in February 2020 and scored Rolling Stone Australia’s title of ‘Record Of The Week’. Between now and October, Luboku is scheduled to release 3 new singles and plans to undertake a virtual world tour, setting the stage for his second national headline tour in late 2020 as live events return to Australia.
